When should you make an appointment with us?

ACADEMIC AND SCHOLARSHIP PLANNING

If you son or daughter is a college bound student and you want to plan early and prepare effectively for college admission and implement action steps to achieve scholarship success. Or if you and your family don’t have time to research and are concerned about college majors, occupations and colleges that best fit your son’s or daughter’s skills, interests, values and personalities the “Personal Profile”.  The most advantageous time to plan for these is after the student’s freshmen year in high school. 

FINANCIAL AID PLANNING

If the family has accumulated assets (savings account, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, 529 Plan etc.) or if you are concerned about potential aid eligibility and wish to plan early, the most advantageous time to have your financial aid profile reviewed is prior to January 1st of the student’s junior year in high school.  If aid eligibility or assets are not an issue, the parents should make an appointment as early in their child’s senior year as possible.

What information do I need for the appointment?

Upon making an appointment, a checklist of required information will be sent to you. The student’s non-official transcript and SAT or ACT test scores will also be needed for Academic & Scholarship planning. Your previous year’s tax return, savings and mortgage balances, and an estimation of this year’s earnings are some of the items that will be necessary for Financial Aid Planning.

How long will the appointment last?

On average, a comprehensive consultation for both services will last between 60 and 90 minutes.

How much does this cost?

For the 2007/2008 academic year, the first year fee for each Academic & Scholarship Planning and Financial Aid Planning is $250.00, for the total fee of $500.  For returning clients, each fee is $75.00 for the total fee of $150.  The College Financial Aid fee includes a preparation of the Federal and State financial aid forms, if necessary.   The fee for filing CSS Profile on-line financial aid form, required by certain private schools is $75 each year.  Financial aid forms must be completed each year.  For additional family members in college, there is a $50.00 per student charge for financial aid form completion.
